Aix-en-Provence

Aix-en-Provence　は大学の街だ。

かつてのプロバンス国王Roi Reneがその首都として

整備した街である。

東のNice、西のAvignonを結ぶ高速道路A8にあり、

かつまた、南にMarseille、北にSisteronに通じるA54

との四辻(Carefoure)のところで、交通の要所である。

質実剛健の伝統からか派手さはないが実質本位の

ところが残っている街である。
